Rev. Larry Roper was born in 1948, and raised by his parents in a Christian home in Arkansas with his two brothers.  For many generations, the family has been farmers. He was raised in a Pentecostal Church of God church.

Rev. Roper became a Christian at the age of 15, and accepted the call to preach about a year later.  After graduation from high school in 1967 he enrolled at Southern Bible College in Houston, Texas, which was the Pentecostal Church of God College at that time.  He graduated from SBC with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1973.  While at SBC Larry married a young lady named Linda, and they soon had their first-born child, Larry Jr.his two brothers. For many generations, the family has been farmers. He was raised in a Pentecostal Church of God church.

Upon graduation, Pastors Larry and Linda (and Larry Jr.) went into the evangelistic ministry, ministering in various churches until May 1974 when they were voted in as Senior Pastors of Victory Tabernacle in Clio, Michigan, where they served until January 1977.  Shortly thereafter, they had a daughter they named Angee.

In 1980 they came to Antioch, California, where they were voted in as Senior Pastors of Living Word Church (which is now The Light Ministries).

Rev. Larry Roper has served on many boards for the denomination and local ministries.  He was named in “Who’s Who of Ministers” in 1992, and served as Sectional Presbyter of the Bay Section, Northern California District of the Pentecostal Church of God, and as District Director of Christian Education for the same district.
